Does the Truth Really Set You Free?

Thinking of the past and wondering what went wrong,
Remembering a child that used to be so determined and strong.
Who is to blame? If anyone at all,
Was it her family disloyalties that caused her to fall?
Or was it her pride that constantly slapped her in the face?
Or her views and opinions about the human race?
It may seem trivial to ponder on these thoughts, but she must ask,
To find the truth is her one main task.
But who is wise enough to answer the questions of life?
She cannot, nor her father or his wife.
The question still remains is it worth the time to find the answers to heal?
Or will it be devastating to find what the curious human mind reveals.

Gala for the Children

For ten years, guests at the Gala for the Children have been transported to a different locale to raise money to support our programs. We have celebrated a night in Greece, visited the whimsical land Dr. Seuss, accepted a spy mission, explored the rainforest, seen the lights on Broadway, and visited both Hawaii and Italy. In 2010, went to Oz for our Yellow Brick Gala.

Hello Jackie, saw your post and I just ordered your book. My parents are taking care of my two cousins who were abandoned by their parents. They are 13 and 16, so I think the book will ring close to home. Congrats and I am looking forward to a good read.

Not Good Enough

I sit here in this emotionally empty room,
My heart is filled with sadness and gloom.
The barrel’s at my head and I am ready to go,
Hoping it is painless when the bullet takes it’s blow.
I have tried my best to do what’s right,
But I am no longer able to hold on tight.
I have finally given up after letting you down,
You always expected so much from me in this small country town.
Your expectations were just too high,
“Please forgive me daddy” I whispered with a sigh.
I wish you didn’t hate me or feel so ashamed,
I am just a child and not fully to blame.
